You will enter the country as a tourist, so no visa is required. When you arrive you go through passport control, and then you pick up your checked bags. After you get your bags you will exit the baggage claim area through the passage that reads "Nothing to declare." You do not have to declare your laptop, cameras, etc. Customs agents will still randomly stop people and search their bags looking for prohibited items. They are simply doing their job and most will be courteous. Do not argue with them or question them. Do not bring any meat products such as jerky or Slim Jims with you, because they are currently banned coming in from the U.S. There are dogs in place to sniff these things out.
There will be an orientation time after you arrive where we will cover many cultural items, along with do's and don'ts.
You will be given some survival Hungarian lessons - basic greetings, how to ask for things in the market, etc. There are numerous book and tape packages available if you would like to start now, or for free online tutoring go to www.magyarora.com/english/index.html or www.hungarotips.com/hungarian. NOTE: Most English/Hungarian phase books are based on British pronunciation.
