Throughout the month of May we are requesting focused prayer for particular places where the IMB Eastern Hungary Team has been active. Click on the town's name for further information about it and how to strategically pray for the people there—each prayer request is specifically tied to that location's history or "personality." County seats are marked because they are key cultural centers that effect the entire county. Note that the pronunciation for each location is given when you point at it on the calendar.

The 2nd largest city in Hungary, Debrecen is an important economic hub with a large university. Pray that new church plants will grow and God will move mightily among the students. (County Seat)

A prominent resort town. Because of all its visitors, it has the potential to spread the gospel all over eastern Hungary and the surrounding countries. Pray that visitors to the town will find Jesus and share with their friends and families.

This city is close to Debrecen but has no evangelical church. It has the potential to affect Debrecen and the surrounding area. Pray that the new believers in Balmazújváros will become true disciples and that a new church will be planted.

Home of the famous black pottery. Merchants from all around the world come to purchase ceramics. Pray that people will come to the Lord and then share with their neighbors and the buyers that come.

This is a very traditional small Hungarian city. It is a major transportation crossroads. Pray that the work that has already begun will grow into multiplying churches.

The third-largest city in Hungary. It is a key manufacturing city, but currently has high unemployment. It is also the location of a large university. Pray the economic difficulties will cause many to turn to Christ. (County Seat)

A quiet little town not greatly affected by city life. Many young couples decide to stay and raise their families here. Pray this peaceful place will come to know the greatest Peace of all.

This is a small manufacturing town that has a growing suburban population. People seem to be very busy just providing for their families. Pray that in the hustle and bustle of life people will turn to Jesus Christ.

An "economic oasis" in eastern Hungary, attracting many new people looking for jobs. Pray that this oasis will become a spring of hope to the nation.

This town's famous wine attracts visitors from around the world. It has broad Gospel-sowing potential. Pray that this town known for its wine will know a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Eger is the site of a famous battle with the Turks; Hungarians come here to reconnect with their history. Pray that as people seek their roots they will find a future with Jesus Christ. (County Seat)

This fast-growing town is northeast of the capital, Budapest. It has the potential to greatly influence the area as well as the rest of the country. Pray that many business people will become exporters of the Gospel. (County Seat)

A new interstate highway going through is expected to cause rapid growth here. Pray for true spiritual awakening in this town where it is so difficult to share. (County Seat)

The Gospel is spreading here and could spill over into surrounding towns. Pray that this will indeed happen, and that from this town the Good News will spread and be welcomed by those in neighboring areas.

This town has the potential to evangelize the entire area, although the Gospel is not yet growing rapidly. Pray this county seat will become a beacon of light to the entire county. (County Seat)

Geographic center of the area, surrounded by many smaller towns needing a lot of new churches. Pray the church will be revived and that new, spiritually strong churches will be planted.

This town is reportedly experiencing some revival, but also much spiritual resistance. Pray that the revival will spread and push back the darkness trying to hamper it.

This town is close to Szentes. Both are on a common truck route; there is the potential for spreading Christ into eastern Europe. Pray that this town, along with Szentes, will share Christ with the many truckers passing through.

This city has the largest geographic jurisdiction of any Hungarian city outside Budapest. Pray that the gospel will spread over the city's entire area of influence.

Szeged is the fifth-largest city in Hungary, and is a key to reaching southeast Hungary and the Hungarians in Serbia. It sees itself as a university town. Pray that many students will come to Christ and carry the Gospel with them into their careers. (County Seat)

This town is on a major truck route and is building a huge industrial complex. It has great potential for spreading the Gospel to many other places. Pray the new industrial center will become a center for the Gospel as well.

Once an ancient, dirt-walled fortress, today it is a friendly agricultural center. Pray that the people of Tiszaföldvár will come to know the mighty Fortress who is our God.

Szolnok is in the center of eastern Hungary on multiple major transportation routes, including rail, bus, truck, and boat. Pray that this will be a launching point for a great movement of the Gospel. (County Seat)

This town has a church plant underway by the Hungarian Baptist Union and another evangelical mission. It is a geographic center where many new churches are needed. Pray that the church plant in Gyöngyös will grow strong and plant many more churches.

Jászberény is the historic town of the Jasz people from Iran, who were assimilated by the Hungarians. They bought their freedom from the Hapsburgs in 1745 AD in what is called locally the "Act of Redemption." Pray the people will come to know the one true "Act of Redemption."

Cegléd is an agricultural center, sometimes called "Little Holland" because of the rich soil and many bicycles. Pray that this fertile place will become a great harvest field for God's Kingdom.

On the main interstate highway halfway between Budapest and Szeged, Kecskemét is a major truck and train route. Pray that this town that was spared in the Turkish invasion will come to salvation and avoid the final judgment. (County Seat)

Kiskõrös is the geographic center of Bács-Kiskun county, and is the birthplace of famous Hungarian poet Petofi Sandor. Pray that this geographic center point will become the center of a church-planting movement.

Located in the center of many small lakes, Kiskunhalas was once a famous fishing town. Pray that this town once known for fishing will become known as a place of fishers of men.

This small town is off the main route and will need to be specifically targeted with the Gospel. Pray that the Good News will take root and grow in this out-of-the-way town.

Baja, a very friendly small city, is open to the Gospel but is located farthest away from the IMB Eastern Hungary Team. Pray that many in this place will become friends of God.
