Due to a long history of broken promises and misplaced hope, the Hungarians are very hesitant to trust any type of institution. At each election they hope for a system that will be better, but since corruption is accepted as the norm at all levels of society it is difficult to make any real changes, and the mistrust remains. This mistrust has carried over to the church and its institutions, which makes it difficult for believers to share their faith.
Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God. Ps. 146:3, 5
Pray that the Hungarians will realize that true hope comes from God, who changes people from the heart, and that they will place their trust in Him.
