Introducing the 2006 Summer Workers

Note: Information is as given in spring 2006.

- The Interns -

The 2006 summer interns were with us from May 27 to August 9. For much of that time they were bicycling across eastern Hungary getting to know the people and culture. In strategic cities they prayer-walked, conducted ethnographic surveys, and did evangelism projects.

Stephen Cowden

Stephen Cowden photoI am in my second of five years at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri, double majoring in Music Education and Church Music. I am a member of the orchestra and band, and play several instruments including violin, viola, guitar, percussion, clarinet and piano. I also enjoy singing, composing, and arranging, as well as teaching others to play and enjoy music. I love leading worship, and have been doing so for about four years. I consider working with and impacting people to be just as important as my educational pursuits, and I am very excited to be involved in this summer project. I look forward to what God has in store for our team and the people we will encounter.

- The Summer Student-Work Volunteers -

Coming to help us through our partnership with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, the Reades worked with students in Debrecen from June 8 to August 3; they also assisting our summer interns on one of their survey tours, took part in the June outreach project in Puspokladany, and taught at an outreach English camp in Hajduszoboszlo.

Chris and Dennisa Reade

Chris and Dennisa Reade PhotoWe are volunteer missions workers from Arkansas. We have three children in their early twenties and four grandchildren all of whom live near us. We enjoy doing disaster relief work as part of a recovery team that cuts trees off of houses, and have recently joined the Arkansas Baptist Bikers to experience a new ministry opportunity. Our hobbies are riding our motorcycle, water skiing, and hiking. We love being outdoors in God's creation.

Chris owns an automotive repair shop and has recently resigned from a church where he served as bi-vocational pastor for eight years to spend more time on mission work. He has previously served in several Central and South American countries.

Dennisa has recently resigned from her job of eleven years as a school nurse in the local high school. She has served in Costa Rica and worked locally with the victims of Hurricane Katrina. We look forward to spending our summer in Hungary and getting to know the people and the culture. It has been our dream for many years to be able to devote much of our time to mission work. God has blessed this dream and made it a reality. Praise God who is faithful!

- Macedonian Mission Ministries Volunteer Team -

Volunteers in Puspokladany

A volunteer team led by Mack and Cherry Mills of Macedonian Mission Ministries worked with us from June 13 to 17 in the town of Puspokladany; the multi-faceted project opened doors for ministry to people of all ages, and a new and exciting responsiveness to the Gospel is now evident in the town. Also pictured in the group are some of our Hungarian translators, along with additional volunteers who helped with outreach and prayer walking. Click here for more information about the project, and see the photo album pages for pictures.
